Stephanie Sorota of Glen Rock, New Jersey is in her fourth season with The Washington Ballet. She has performed in works choreographed by George Balanchine, Marcelo Gomes, Gemma Bond, Clifton Brown, Alexei Ratmansky, Jiri Kylian, Sir Anthony Dowell, Twyla Tharp, William Forsythe, Justin Peck, Choo San Goh, Edward Liang, Stephen Mills, and Septime Webre, as well as classical repertoire such as Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet; Giselle; Ashton’s The Dream and Symphonic Variations; and Folkine’s Les Sylphides. In June 2016, Sorota participated in the Ballet Program at The School at Jacob’s Pillow, performing a new work choreographed by Yury Yanowsky in the Ted Shawn Theater and on the Henry J. Leir Stage. Sorota began her ballet training under Eugene Petrov at the Irine Fokine School of Ballet, and continued her training with him at Petrov Ballet School until her graduation in June 2015. In the 2013 and 2015 Youth America Grand Prix Philadelphia Semi-Finals, Sorota placed third in the Senior Classical division. As a participant in the 2015 Youth America Grand Prix New York Finals, she placed Top Twelve in the Senior Division.
