Nancy Parenti taught ballet to children and adults at the Washington School of Ballet beginning in 1977 under the tutelage of the founder, Mary Day. Mrs. Parenti also founded and directed Ballet Petite, a school with 3 locations, 13 studios, and classes for students of all ages. She was named “Washington Woman” in 2003 in recognition of the success of the school. She earned a BA in Dance from the University of Maryland and her post graduate studies were at the American University. She trained early in life in the Royal Academy of Dance under Delores Ringer of The National Ballet. She continued her dance training at TWSB with Mary Day, Robert Steele, Martin Buckner, Alistair Monroe, Julio DeBittencourt and others. Her other teachers included Frederic Franklin, director of The National Ballet, and Ann Parsons, dancer with The Royal Ballet and teacher at The Joffrey School.
