Adrian Vincent James

Adrian Vincent James is a native of Washington, DC, who began his artistic guidance under director Mike Malone in 1970. This led him to win scholarships giving him the opportunity to study at Jones-Haywood School of Ballet, American Ballet Theatre School, Dance Theatre of Harlem and Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. Mr. James became the first African American selected to dance with Houston Ballet. He earned his B.F.A. in Drama with a concentration in Directing from Howard University and M.A. in Performing Arts – Dance from the American University. He has taught, choreographed and directed at Duke Ellington Performing Arts High School, Howard University, Suitland High School, and is also on faculty at TWSB at the ARC.
