School Administration, Staff, The Washington School of Ballet - Northwest Campus

Kayla DeShields is a native of Woodbridge, VA where she grew up studying liturgical dance in her church beginning at age four and holding positions of leadership within the dance ministry by age 18. After high school, she attended Northern Virginia Community College and graduated with an Associates of Science degree in Social Sciences in 2017. She then transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor degree focus in Dance and Choreography in 2019. Throughout her time at Virginia Commonwealth University, Kayla got the opportunity to experience lighting design, dance composition, and dance history while also studying improvisation, ballet, and modern dance techniques.

Kayla joined The Washington School of Ballet SE Campus in 2019 and was promoted to School Manager for the NW Campus in 2024. As School Manager, Kayla assists families with registration and is instrumental in delivering communications to families about youth programs at the NW Campus. She is so excited and happy to help all of our families throughout their time with us in the school.
