Development, Staff

Skylar Edwards is the Institutional Giving Manager and The Washington Ballet’s designated staff resource for both current, and interested, grantors, foundation partners and corporate sponsors. With over 10 years of experience in museum management and development for non-profit sectors of the arts industry, she has helped cultural institutions connect with a wide range of audiences, grow community relationships, and inspire the next generations of philanthropic partnerships. Skylar most recently served as the Leadership Gifts Manager for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, located in Alexandria. Prior to that, she served as the Events Manager for Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, where she managed grant funded projects and raised critical funds to bring the power of music to families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. It was here where she discovered the most transformative power to be the art of community and has since worked to connect both communities and companies to mission-critical initiatives.

Driven by the support from community partners, Skylar has raised critical funds to help underserved audiences experience
the transformative power behind the performing arts. With a special interest in therapeutic techniques and the performing arts, Skylar joins The Washington Ballet with a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Arkansas in Art History, and a Master of Arts degree in Museum Science and Non-profit Management from The University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she specialized in fundraising initiatives that strengthen neighboring communities.
