Salma Gonzalez Rosario received her early dance training at Ballet Clasico Santiago in the Dominican Republic. Throughout those years, she participated in competitions in Cuba, Finals in New York City, and in Santo Domingo she won 1st place. During her training, she had the chance to dance choreographies by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Julie Tomaino. In 2018, she graduated performing as “Kitri” in Don Quixote for the school production. That same year, she moved from DR to Washington, D.C. to join The Washington School of Ballet Professional Track Training Program B. While also attending Laurel Springs School online for her studies. In 2019, she got the opportunity to perform as “Clara” in Septime Webre’s The Nutcracker and that year received a scholarship in the school. In 2020, she graduates from high school and continues her training through zoom at TWSB. After hard years of pandemic, Salma attended TWSB Summer Intensive 2021 moving up as a Trainee. During 2022, she had the opportunity to perform roles with the company such as The Willis Corps de ballet, Nymph Corps de ballet and Garland Dance in Julie Kent’s Giselle and Sleeping Beauty. Danced as Snow and Flowers Corps de ballet in The Nutcracker. She also performed in TWB George Balanchine’s Serenade. Salma has danced many years at TWSB and also works as a receptionist at our locations. In 2023, Salma had such a wonderful experience working as a chaperone in TWSB Summer Intensive. She’s very excited and looking forward to getting to know the students for TWSB Summer Intensive 2024 and to guide them throughout this beautiful and fun journey.
