Heather Hughes moved to Washington, DC, in 2007 to join the law school faculty at American University, where she teaches and publishes on legal aspects of property and commercial finance. She grew up in Mantoloking, New Jersey, and Fairfield, Connecticut. After attending the University of Chicago and Harvard Law School, she migrated to San Francisco, Denver, and Miami before in settling here in DC.
