Since 1944, The Washington Ballet provided classical training for young dancers throughout the DMV and is a family legacy for many families. Meet Grace Reidenbaugh, one of our 2024 Summer Intensive Students and new Trainee 2 for the 2024.25 Season, and grandaughter of a TWB Alum. Read on for more on Grace’s journey to The Washington School of Ballet.
What did you get out of the summer intensive?
For me, I definitely got amazing corrections throughout all 6 weeks that really clicked and has improved my technique immensely. I also loved getting a sneak peak at not only the trainee schedule but also the company schedule through the Repertoire Week. It really showed me that this is absolutely what I want to pursue and gave me the motivation to do so!
What influenced your decision to stay?
The most influential part in my decision was the fantastic faculty. We were lucky enough to work with nearly all the teachers we will be working with during the year along with members of the professional company and the new Artistic Director Edwaard Liang. Getting to learn from all of these amazing people was truly an honor and I am so excited to continue to learn from them.
What about TWSB made you feel like it was a good fit for you?
After seeing the progress in my technique after only 6 weeks I realized that I could improve incredibly over the school year. I also have lived near DC my whole life along with my grandma being an alum of the school and one of Mary Day’s first students, making this decision felt right. I truly feel like my dreams are coming true with The Washington Ballet and TWSB!
