This fall TWB explodes with sultry rhythms and PROJECT GLOBAL: LATIN HEAT--both in our artist roster and in our repertoire.
This season we welcome to The Washington Ballet a number of new artists from Cuba, including Venus Villa, Oscar Sanchez and Javier Morera. They join fellow Cuban Gian Carlo Perez, Venezuelan Francesca Dugarte, Puerto Rican Luis Torres and Dominican Michele Jimenez to fill out our own Hispanic Caucus at The Washington Ballet. Together with the other artists of TWB who hail from—literally--all around the globe, we are all preparing for an extraordinary opening series entitled PROJECT GLOBAL: LATIN HEAT which runs October 14-18 at the Kennedy Center. The program is an extravagant celebration of the music and dance of Latin America. With it, we explore Latin identity and influence as Latin culture fuses with other cultures around the world. Global fusion is an idea woven throughout the show.
