The Washington School of Ballet (TWSB) School Programs

TWSB offer ballet programs for students from ages 1 to 19. With over 1000 students at our Northwest & Southeast Campuses across 12 studios, we provide a safe, nurturing environment for every dancer to explore their technical and artistic talents. Our mission is clear: to inspire the next generation of dancers to reach their full potential and keep our community dancing.

TWSB follows a leveled syllabus, allowing every student to progress at their own pace. While some students may repeat a year based on various factors, including growth, we prioritize health and proper development.

2024.25 School Year
(September 3, 2024 – June 1, 2025)

Enrollment for current students begins on June 10, while new students can register starting from July 1.

Creative Dance and Pre-Ballet (Ages 1-8)

Creative Dance and Pre-Ballet (Ages 1-8)

Creative Dance (ages 1-5) introduces ballet basics. Mommy & Me classes bond caregivers and toddlers. Pre-Ballet (ages 5-8) progresses through fundamental positions to classical ballet steps.

Lower Division (Ages 8-12 by Audition)

Lower Division (Ages 8-12 by Audition)

Lower Division levels 1-3 focus on classical ballet technique, preparing for Upper Division. Classes, based on age and ability, meet 2-3 times weekly, emphasizing strength, alignment, and musicality.

Teen Ballet and Upper Division Levels 4-8 (Ages 11-18)

Teen Ballet and Upper Division Levels 4-8 (Ages 11-18)

Teen Ballet provides foundational training. Upper Division Levels 4-8 develop strength, artistry, and discipline, preparing for college dance studies. Classes emphasize technique, pointe, and styles.

Trainee Programs (Ages 15-19)

Junior Trainee Program and Trainee Programs offer comprehensive ballet training, performance opportunities, and educational seminars, preparing dancers for professional careers.
