The Washington School of Ballet (TWSB) School Year Programs

TWSB offers ballet programs for students 1 year old and up. With over 1,000 students at our Northwest & Southeast Campuses across 12 studios, we provide a safe and nurturing environment for every dancer to explore their technical and artistic talents. Our mission is clear: to inspire the next generation of dancers to reach their full potential and keep our community dancing.

TWSB follows a leveled syllabus, allowing every student to progress at their own pace. While some students may repeat a year based on various factors, including growth, we prioritize health and proper development.

2025/26 School Year (September 2, 2025 – May 31, 2026)

Registration for School Year Programs opens each year for current families mid-June and for new families on July 1. Registration closes the day prior to the start of the session.

Mommy & Me (ages 1-2)

Designed for our tiniest dancers and their parent or caregiver, these classes introduce our budding ballerinas to the joy of movement.

Creative Dance (ages 3-5)

Children cultivate their love of dance while developing movement coordination and spatial awareness through the use of props and imaginative stories.

Pre-Ballet (ages 5-8)

Our nurturing and age-appropriate Pre-Ballet curriculum introduces children to the fundamental positions of classical ballet, musicality, and classroom etiquette while sharing the joy of dance.

Lower Division (ages 8-12)

Lower Division levels 1-3 focus on classical ballet technique, preparing for Upper Division. Classes, based on age and ability, meet 2-3 times weekly, emphasizing strength, alignment, and musicality.

Upper Division and Teen Ballet (ages 11-18)

Teen Ballet provides foundational training. Upper Division Levels 4-8 develop strength, artistry, and discipline, preparing for college dance studies. Classes emphasize technique, pointe, and styles.

Trainee Programs (Ages 15-18)

An elite, audition-only program offering rigorous daily training, diverse classes, expert mentorship, and high-level performance opportunities to prepare dancers for college or a pro career.
