RULES AND PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT
Please read the following requirements carefully. A signed agreement is required at the time of audition or registration.
PARTICIPATION IN A PRODUCTION
- To participate in professional TWB productions or TWSB school productions, the student must be registered and actively attending classes at The Washington School of Ballet, with a minimum attendance rate of 80 percent. Students who are not actively attending classes may be dismissed from the production.
- If a student becomes injured and must modify class or rehearsal attendance, the Artistic Administrator or appropriate School staff must be contacted in advance to create an adjusted schedule. Staff will coordinate with company repetiteurs or school choreographers to adjust rehearsal expectations.
- Enrollment at TWSB does not guarantee selection for TWB productions. Previous participation, level, or talent does not guarantee casting in a specific role. Casting and production needs may change from year to year.
- Participation in TWB productions constitutes participation in a professional production. Students must adhere to company rules, production expectations, and any AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists) guidelines communicated by production staff. Students may be recast, rescheduled, or dismissed based on the needs of the company.
REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Students selected for participation are required to attend all rehearsals and performances, including in-studio and theater rehearsals. Some theater and rehearsal activities may require early dismissal from school.
- Rehearsals begin on: Saturday, January 17, 2026
- Rehearsal and performance schedules are posted weekly on the designated student cast portal. These schedules are subject to change. Students and families must check regularly.
- Roles and casting decisions are made solely at the discretion of the artistic staff and may be adjusted during the rehearsal period. Parents and students may not request specific roles or casts.
- Performance assignments are not interchangeable. Alternates may only perform in emergency situations with prior approval from the Children’s Coordinator.
- Students must be available for all listed performances, including those for which they are listed as alternates:
Performance Dates:

- Friday, May 15th – 8 pm
- Saturday, May 16th – 2pm
- Saturday, May 16th – 8 pm
- Sunday, May 17th – 2 pm
Technical Rehearsal Dates (Mandatory):

- Wednesday, May 13th
- Arrival time for each performance is one hour prior to curtain (Call Time). Students must sign in at the theater no later than five minutes after Call Time.
- Students participating in both a matinee and evening performance must be picked up between shows. They may not remain at the theater unattended. Please arrange supervision and meals accordingly.
BEHAVIOR AND CODE OF CONDUCT
- All students are expected to demonstrate respectful, responsible, and kind behavior consistent with the values of The Washington School of Ballet.
- TWSB and TWB management reserve the right to dismiss a student from a production or from the school entirely if they feel the student is not prepared, their behavior is disruptive or abusive, or if their parent/guardian is repeatedly disruptive or abusive to staff.
- Dismissal from a production does not constitute dismissal from the School, but dismissal from the School does constitute dismissal from all TWB productions. No refunds will be given for tuition or production fees if a student is dismissed due to behavior or non-compliance with School or production policies.
- Possession or use of alcohol, illegal substances, or unauthorized prescription drugs is grounds for immediate expulsion from TWSB and removal from all productions.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Students may be required to purchase specific items, such as ballet slippers or accessories, depending on their assigned role. Additional information will be shared after casting.
- Only approved parent volunteers may be backstage during rehearsals or performances. A volunteer meeting will be scheduled and required for participation.
- The Washington Ballet reserves the right to use students’ images or likenesses for promotional purposes associated with this and future productions.
