Sarah M Schlehlein joined TWB as Company Manager at the end of the 2022-2023 season. She originally joined The Washington Ballet as a member of the Stage Management team during the 2021-2022 season. She rejoined as the Interim Company Manager for The Nutcracker in 2022.  

Sarah is a native of Southeastern Wisconsin where we grew up and graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and History. Her main focus in Theatre was Stage Management, Carpentry, and Lighting; and in History was Early American History and The History of the Occult. She is also a trained dancer of 18 years training at Studio One Dance Company and at Marquette University teaching dance during her time at Studio One Dance Company. 

Prior to joining TWB, Sarah has worked for a number of Theatres in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia), Southeastern Wisconsin, and California areas as a member of Stage Management, Production, Deck Hand, Electrician, Properties, and Sets. Some of those theaters include: Shakespeare Theatre Company, Arena Stage, Theater J, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Skylight Music Theatre, and Santa Cruz Shakespeare.   

In addition to her love for the arts, is her love for History. She is also employed at George Washington’s Mount Vernon as a Historic Interpreter in the Trades department on the estate. She educates guests about the history of the First President, his life, and all the happenings on his estate. Her duties include: cooking and baking historical recipes; processing fibers like wool, linen and cotton using methods like spinning and weaving; running and interpreting the Gristmill (grain mill) and Whisky Distillery (running historic stills) on the Doge Run portion of the estate, and anything else that comes her way.
