RoAnne Duncan

RoAnne Duncan has had over fifteen years of professional experience as a classical ballet dancer, including six years of performing experience with Maurice Béjart’s Ballet of the 20th Century, Béjart Ballet Lausanne and The Joffrey Ballet.  She performed soloist roles from Béjart’s repertoire and, while with The Joffrey Ballet, Gerald Arpino choreographed a solo for her in his ballet, Birthday Variations. RoAnne also participated in a combined Kirov Ballet and Béjart Festival in Russia.  Her early experience included dancing with Colorado Ballet, Nevada Dance Theatre and Arizona Dance Theatre.  More recently, as a teacher at Orlando Ballet School, she worked under the direction of Fernando Bujones.  A Phi Beta Kappa graduate from American University, RoAnne was honored to receive a Suzanne Farrell Fellowship at Florida State University.  In 2014, RoAnne was awarded a doctorate from the Department of Interdisciplinary Humanities at Florida State, where she previously received her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance in 2005. In addition to teaching with TWSB, RoAnne teaches ballet at the Maryland Youth Ballet and ballet, modern and dance theory courses at Montgomery College.
