Originally from Long Island, Kim Parmer has been immersed in the DC-area dance scene since moving here in 2010. Most recently, Ms. Parmer served as the director of Maryland School of Dance, which she founded in 2015. She has previously taught for American Dance Institute, Joy of Motion Dance Center, Company E, and is the former Artistic Director of Georgetown University Dance Company.
Ms. Parmer is a former dancer, choreographer, and rehearsal director for MOVEIUS Contemporary Ballet and has danced with regional companies in the Boston, Chicago, and New York City area. Ms. Parmer holds her B.A. in Psychology from Boston University and is a graduate of New York University’s Master’s program in Dance Education with a concentration in American Ballet Theatre Ballet Pedagogy.
