In honor of the Centennial Celebration of President John F. Kennedy, The Washington Ballet and National Air and Space Museum will co-host The Washington Ballet Ball: We Choose the Moon.
The Washington Ballet’s 40th anniversary season culminates with an evening that will celebrate the launch of Artistic Director Julie Kent’s first commission: Frontier. This new work honors President John F. Kennedy’s vision and contributions toward the arts and space exploration- two of his great legacies. With choreography by Ethan Stiefel, a renowned American dancer and emerging choreographer and an original score by Adam Crystal, Frontier makes a statement about the aspirations of The Washington Ballet.
Attendance is by invitation only. The Washington Ball: We Choose the Moon is a celebratory event for sponsors.
“Now it is time to take longer strides- time for a great new American enterprise - time for this nation to take a clearly leading role in space achievement, which in many ways may hold the key to our future on earth.”
