The next chapter in a brilliant series, Genius2 features works by three of the most renowned choreographers at the vanguard of American dance: high priestess of American dance Twyla Tharp, musical mastermind Mark Morris, and ballet world wunderkind Christopher Wheeldon. TWB artists will noodle their way through Tharp's jazzy Baker's Dozen - one of her wittiest pieces to date. Then they'll leap from the classical to the innovative in Morris's breathtakingly fluid Pacific and Wheeldon's critically hailed and highly physical Morphoses. Provocative and engaging, Genius2 is a season highlight not to be missed!


Highland Fling

A tour of the British Isles, this program pairs August Bournonville's masterpiece La Sylphide with Lila York's exuberant runaway hit Celts, both company premieres for The Washington Ballet. Set in the Scottish highlands, La Sylphide is the tragically romantic tale of love lost originally choreographed by the Danish master in 1836 after the 1832 original. TWB artists will delve into a magical and mysterious realm as they revisit this historic work. Capping off each performance will be Celts, an effervescent work set to lively Irish music by the Chieftains.

Take a high-flying adventure to Never Never Land with The Washington Ballet's production of Septime Webre's Peter Pan, a swashbuckling coming of age tale that pits Peter and the Lost Boys against Captain Hook and his outrageous band of pirates. A whimsical adventure told through vibrant dancing, Peter Pan is the story about growing up that never seems to grow old.

A fun and fresh introduction to the ballet featuring The Washington Ballet Studio Company in Balanchine's saucy Who Cares?, this program includes other family favorites from the TWB repertoire.
