The next chapter in a brilliant series, Genius2 features works by renowned living choreographers at the vanguard of contemporary dance. This season, TWB artists will noodle their way through Twyla Tharp 's jazz Baker 's Dozen, one of her wittiest pieces to date. Then they 'll leap from the classical to the innovative in Mark Morris 's playful tour de force, Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes, and Wheeldon 's critically hailed and highly physical Morphoses. Nacho Duato’s hypnotic pas de deux Cor Perdut will cap off this provocative and engaging program.

Highland Fling

A tour of the British Isles, this program pairs August Bournonville's masterpiece La Sylphide with Lila York's exuberant runaway hit Celts, both company premieres for The Washington Ballet. Set in the Scottish highlands, La Sylphide is the tragically romantic tale of love lost originally choreographed by the Danish master in 1836 after the 1832 original. TWB artists will delve into a magical and mysterious realm as they revisit this historic work. Capping off each performance will be Celts, an effervescent work set to lively Irish music.

Art-song and cabaret staged as dance-theatre in a breathtaking collaboration between the In Series and The Washington Ballet Studio Company, directed and chroeographer by Septime Webre, David Palmer and Jared Nelson. Songs by Wagner and Brahms and cabaret from pre-World War II Germany, sung on stage by Laura Lewis, Michelle Rice, Richard Tappen and Stanley Webber.
