NW Campus


Auditions for The Washington School of Ballet, NW Campus, 2015.2016 school year will be held on June 13 (ages 4-19), JULY 18 (ages 4-10), and AUGUST 29 (ages 4-19) at the following times and locations on the TWSB NW Campus.

Ages 6 to 7 (June 13, July 18, August 29)

Ages 8 to 10 (June 13, July 18, August 29)
Registration: 12:00 NOON
Audition: 12:30 - 2:00PM

Ages 11 to 14 (June 13 and August 29)

Ages 14 and up (June 13 and August 29)

Registration will take place onsite, there will be a registration fee of $30. Please bring a completed copy of the 15-16 Audition Form. SE Campus at THEARC

Auditions for The Washington School of Ballet, SE Campus at THEARC for the 2015.2016 school year will be held on JULY 25, AUGUST 15 and AUGUST 29.

A non-refundable audition fee of $30 for the July auditions and $40 for the August auditions is due at the time of the audition.

Auditions on JULY 25 and AUGUST 15 will be held at the following times at TWB@THEARC studios.

Audition: 9:30-10:00 AM
*Dancers must be four years old by the date of the audition to be eligible to participate.

Ages 7 to 8

Ages 9 to 11

Ages 12 and up with no experience

Registration fee and tuition information will be given out after the audition. We will be holding auditions during August 31 – Oct 1. Those interested in auditioning during this time will need to call and schedule an audition. Please bring a completed copy of the 15-16 Audition Form. What to Expect

Students will participate in a ballet technique class and be assessed according to technical ability and age-appropriate standards according to The Washington School of Ballet curriculum. Prior experience will also be taken into consideration.

Attire

Girls- Leotard, tights and ballet shoes. Students with pointe experience should bring pointe shoes.
Boys- Black tights, white T-shirt, white socks and ballet shoes.
However, if your child has never danced before, he/she may wear form fitting, comfortable clothing for the audition. Please remove all jewelry and be certain that the student's hair is pulled away from his/her face and secured, preferably in a bun for girls.

Alexandria, VA Campus at the Athenaeum

Classes for the Alexandria campus at the Athenaeum will audition with students at the Northwest campus. Please follow the schedule above.

DVD Auditions

Ages 13+: If you are unable to attend scheduled auditions, you may submit a DVD audition via mail or provide a hyperlink to your audition presentation. Please submit a downloaded registration form, headshot, payment of $40 (your audition will not be processed unless payment is rendered). DVD auditions should be no longer than 10 minutes and include a brief introduction by the student.with name, age and years of study.Your audition DVD will be reviewed by TWSB faculty and your results will be emailed to you within two weeks.

Please include at the barre: 1 tendu exercise, adagio, grande battement. Center work – battement tendu/ jetes with pirouettes, adagio, grande pirouettes, petit and grand allegro. Pointe work: releve on one leg and pirouettes, diagonal turns, fouettes for advanced levels. Gentlemen should include: tours en l’air, a la seconde turns. A variation may be included but is not expected from younger students.
