
HYUN-WOONG KIM, of Seoul, Korea, is in his first season with The Washington Ballet. Mr. Kim has studied ballet at Korea National University of Arts with Professor Sun-Hee Kim. While at KNUA, he also trained at Vaganova Ballet Academy in St.Petersberg, Russia under Gennady Seltutsky and was chosen as the Prince in Nutcracker for his graduation performance at VBA. Mr. Kim has been awarded numerous awards throughout his career, inlcuding a nomination for the Prix Benois de la Dance in 2006, the Danseur Noble Award by Korea Ballet association same year and recognition as leading artist of the year by Ministry of Culture, Sports and tourism in 2007. After graduation from KNUA in 2004, Mr. Kim joined Korea National Ballet Company and performed in principal roles for seven years including works by Yuri Grigorovich, Patrice Bart of Paris Opera, Rolan Petit and Boris Eifman.
