Saki Kawakita

SAKI KAWAKITA is from Hyogo, Japan. She came to the US to study Performing Arts at Southern Utah University where she was in more than 20 performances, including Cabaret, Lyric Kings, and Oliver, among others. She enjoys both performing and choreographing and one of her works, SUDOKU, was chosen to go to the American College Dance Festival 2007. As president of Orchesis Modern Dance Company, some of her responsibilities included providing leadership and guidance for members, acting as an artistic director for Boundaries, the student dance concert, choreographing, and providing workshops in the local community. She served two years in Student Government as an Arts & Entertainment Delegate and was the representative of the Multicultural Center where she shared Japanese culture and tradition. In this summer, she worked at The John. F Kennedy Center in Washington DC to expland her experiences in Arts Managements and Business. Her duties included assisting in the programming, developing, implementing and marketing of special events, educational publications and performance discussions and demonstrations with creators and artists. She was an program assistant for Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell which is a summer intensive program conducted by Miss Farrell and The Kennedy Center.
