The Washington Ballet is seeking and qualified candidate to serve as the primary contact for all foundation and government relations.  This individual will be responsible for researching, creating, implementing and managing the annual foundation and government master plan and calendar of grant deadline submissions; writing all foundation and government grants; conducting appropriate and timely follow-up with funders/potential funders; writing acknowledgment letters for grants received; arranging and participating in regular meetings between foundation representatives and appropriate administrative and/or Washington Ballet artistic staff; generating and distributing regular and standardized reports on grants to-date actual vs. projection; researching new potential foundation funders as well as changes with current funders; and continually researching and updating grant boilerplate language such as mission statement, company history, dancer roster, etc.  

Additionally, this individual will assist the Director of External Affairs with corporate research and sponsorships when needed, keep current on all industry news, changes and trends in funding, assist the department with mass mailings and proofreading departmental materials; serve as an active member of the External Affairs team while monitoring departmental expenses; and assist with any other duties assigned by the Director.

Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree; strong writing and communication skills; a team player; and enthusiasm for the arts and fundraising.  Experience with Raiser’s Edge database a plus.  Knowledge of ballet is preferred by not required.

Executive Assistant to the Artistic Director

Description: The Washington Ballet seeks an Executive Assistant to support a busy, high-profile Artistic Director. Candidate must be energetic, attentive, courteous, proactive and organized, with the ability to multi-task and reprioritize workload on a daily basis. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to managing the Director’s schedule and maintaining calendars, managing daily appointments, making travel arrangements for staff and guest artists, drafting written correspondence and corresponding over email and telephone, and generally supporting the Director. This position will also provide support to artistic staff, Board of Directors, and external affairs staff by performing general office duties and other duties as needed.  Candidate must have the ability and willingness to work night and weekend hours when needed.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and excellent customer service skills are a must. Knowledge of dance and the performing arts are strongly recommended.

Group Sales and Marketing Coordinator

The Washington Ballet seeks a Group Sales and Marketing Coordinator to assist a fast-paced external affairs department. The Group Sales and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for researching and gathering group sale leads, developing materials to promote group sales, actively pursuing contacts, processing orders, preparing contracts and serving as primary point of contact for group leaders. The coordinator is also responsible for fielding subscriber and patron phone calls for the Ticket Services office. In addition, the coordinator works with the Marketing Manager to secure promotional partnerships with local businesses and organizations and develop grass roots marketing strategies to promote the Company, The Washington School of Ballet, The Washington Ballet @ THEARC and The Washington Ballet’s outreach programs. The Group Sales and Marketing Coordinator also assists the Ticket Services Manager and Marketing Manager as needed including but not limited to designing written and electronic communication to patrons and serving as a face of The Washington Ballet. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Candidate needs to be proactive, enthusiastic and motivated with the ability to multi-task in a busy environment. Must have great attention to detail, be organized and a team player. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree required with 1-2 years of related experience preferred. Familiarity with performing arts a plus. Must have experience with Microsoft Office. Proficiency with Ticketmaster and Patron Edge preferred but not required.
