Erin Mahoney-Du, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, began her dance training at Knecht Dance Academy at the age of seven. She continued her ballet training at Princeton Ballet School under the tutelage of Ms. Elisabeth Carroll, among others, and in her senior year in high school, she began her professional ballet career by joining American Repertory Ballet for four years before she joined The Washington Ballet. Mrs. Mahoney-Du has performed leading roles in classical as well as contemporary ballets choreographed by Septime Webre, Trey McIntyre, Paul Taylor, William Forsythe, Nacho Duato, Christopher Wheeldon, Lila York and George Balanchine. In 2005, she began to dance with Suzanne Farrell Ballet. Under Ms. Farrell’s artistic direction, she has danced soloist roles in George Balanchine’s Don Quixote, La Source, Clarinade, La Valse and Divertimento No. 15. Mrs. Mahoney-Du is in her ninth season with The Washington Ballet.
