
NAYON IOVINO, of Brazil, is in his second season with The Washington Ballet. Mr. Iovino began dancing at age 10 under the instruction of Gisela Vaz. As a guest artist, he has performed with Terra Brasil in 2006 touring throughout Germany and France. At age 17, he was awarded a full scholarship to begin training with The Washington School of Ballet under Kee Juan Han and Carlos Valcárcel. In 2009 he joined Houston Ballet II under the direction of Stanton Welsh, Claudio Munoz and Andrew Murphy and was selected to perform in the Houston Ballet’s 40th year Gala, dancing the world premiere of Stanton Welsh’s “40.” He was a feature in Stanton Welsh’s fingerprints, Blue, Long and Winding Road, Red Earth and Tales of Texas for the 2009.2010 season. His accomplishments include top 12 at the 2008 Youth America Grand Prix, the bronze medal at the 2009 Youth America Grand Prix and this past summer was awarded the gold medal at the World Ballet Competition in Orlando.
