With rehearsals for the season in full gear, the studios are full with dancers and students stretching, spinning and leaping (is that Nutcracker music I hear in the background?).
What are the dancers working on now? We’ve been in rehearsals working on Trey McIntyre’s ballet set to the music of the Beatles for British Invasion (March 5—9, 2014) and the world premiere of PRISM by Annabelle Lopez-Ochoa, which will be one of the centerpieces of The Jazz/Blues Project running January 29—February 2, 2014.
On Monday we begin working full time on Giselle—one of my favorite ballets ever choreographed— love, betrayal, forgiveness, romance, spirited peasant dances and ghostly spirits. What more could you ask for in a timeless ballet? All tickets are officially now on sale to the public, so get your tickets for TWB’s FIRST show of the season, Giselle, which opens on October 31. Before this classic and hauntingly beautiful piece hits the stage, we’ll be kicking the season off right with Unmask the Night- A GRAND MASQUERADE SOIRÉE at the Homer Building on October 26.
My good friends, Ashley Taylor Bronczek and Stacey Lubar, are co-chairing this spectacular event. We plan on having a SOARING good time while raising funds to support productions like Giselle and our award-winning dance education programs. Whether you decide to don a mask or not, I hope to see you at the Soirée in perfect masquerade form! Looking for inspiration? Check out our Pinterest boards for some great ideas.
Ciao for now!
